In With The New!!!

Welcome all to another great semester with UNC's Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta!!! I just wanted to let everybody know that the officer staff is currently in the process of preparing several new events for the new semester and will be striving for another successful year. Last semester Phi Alpha Delta had the largest rush class within the chapter's history and we aim to exceed that number this semester! Existing members will be receiving emails updating them with upcoming events for this semester. For those who are interested in rushing this semester, we will be posting flyers and sending out an informational email which will provide information pertaining to the rush process. As for now I have included some highlights from last semester and know that we will have many more to come this semester!

Hey everyone, I hope you all had amazing breaks. This week PAD has a bunch of cool things going on. On Thursday (23rd) there is a mandatory chapter meeting in Gardner 106 at 7:30 in which we will be hearing speakers from Smith Moore Legal Consultants, dress will be business casual. Thursday (23rd) evening at 10 pm Brandi Jones is throwing a party at her place in Townhouse Apartments for all of the PAD members. While this isnt officially an endorsed PAD event and strictly optional, it should be a really fun time and those interested in going should RSVP on this site to give Brandi an idea of how many people are going to show up. And of course on Saturday (25th) our semiformal will be going down at the Weathervane. Those who have not paid their dues or the additional $10 if they are bringing a guest need to do so at the meeting on Thursday. See y'all at the meeting!

Bring on Spring Break!!!!

I dont know about everyone else but while it may be a couple weeks off, I am definitely ready for spring break. But what is better than spending the remainder of your time here before break than with PAD? (dont answer that) Also congrats to all of our newly bidded rushes! This is the largest rush class that PAD has ever had at UNC and I have to say y'all rock! Getting down to business, this week we have a general meeting on Thursday at 7pm in Gardner 106 for us to just sit down and discuss what is going on with PAD and talk about upcoming events and such. No online RSVP is necessary, as I will be taking attendence at the meeting. As always feel free to email me or comment if you cant make the meeting. Have an awesome week and I hope to see you on Thursday (if I survive my midterms God willing)!

Interviews, Stuff This Week Etc....

Being that this is bid week, we have a lot of events and please try to make the majority of them as the bid decisions have yet to be made. Here is the schedule as follows for this week:

Interviews - 2nd floor Gardner Hall Monday.Tuesday, Wednesday
*There will be signs of where to go on the second floor posted out Gardner 105/106, please wear business casual attire

Tuesday, February 21 - Sarah Brandt of the Princeton Review, Gardner 209 7 pm
*There will be pizza and soda served at the event, please wear business casual for the speaker

Thursday, February 23 - mixer with law fraternity at the Carolina Brewery, 7pm
*The Carolina Brewery is located on Franklin street down past Hams going towards Carrboro, casual attire is fine

Saturday, February 25 - retreat, meet at ATM's behind Davis at 6 pm.
*The retreat has been changed from paintball to laser tag due to cost and liability issues. It will be held in Raleigh. We are currently looking for people to volunteer to drive people for the event. Casual attire is fine.

Tuesday, February 28- Dues for the semester are due to the treasurer Sara Furlow

*Since this is rush week I am assuming that everybody can make every event so RSVP is not necessary (however I will still be taking attendence at events). If there are extenuating circumstances requiring you to miss an event please email me or write on the comments section. While I understand that schedule conflicts arise, I unfortunately have to be a little more strict about attendence this week so I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE you to try and make everything.

This Week...

This week is when we start getting everything rolling before rush pickup! Definitely exciting times. On Thursday we will be having a meeting at 7pm in Gardener 106 in which you will be responsible for the membership test, just flip through the PAD information handout we gave out last meeting and you should be fine. After the meeting is the first gathering of the mock trial team. While encouraged to join mock trial, attending the mock trial meeting is purely optional. Also there has been a change of the date and time of the social this week due to organizational event conflicts. The social is on FRIDAY (17th) at 6pm at BW3s (Buffalo Wild Wings) on West Franklin Street opposite side of the road from Granville and Panera Bread. I will take attendence at the meeting so no need to RSVP for the meeting but PLEASE RSVP ON THE COMMENTS SECTION FOR THE BW3s SOCIAL so we can have an idea how many members/rushes are coming. Hope everyone is having an awesome week!

Thursday Meeting

This Thursday (February 8th) we will be having a meeting at 7pm in Gardener 106. This is for MEMBERS AND RUSHES. We will be having Ice Breakers so everyone can get to know each other and will be having open discussion for upcoming PAD events. Again, I will be taking attendence at the event so online RSVP is not necessary. However, if you cant make it feel free to comment or email me with the reason why you cant. Also for those who are concerned about the event going on this weekend, it has been cancelled so dont worry about it. A few of us are going out to eat after the meeting on Thursday so anybody interested in coming along are welcome but this is purely optional.
